Windows Vista
Note
Due to work and school stuff, I haven't been able to put up the latest reviews.
Just note that since beta 2 a lot of stuff has been greatly improved! At this moment I'm using Windows Vista (build 5472)as my primary OS (my XP is giving a BSOD and I don't see the point in fixing it).
Hardware
The hardware I'm running this pretty on is the new Toshiba Portege M400 with these specs:
- CPU
- Intel Core Duo Processor T2300 (1.66 GHz)
- RAM
- 2 GB DDR2
- HDD
- 80 GB (SATA)
- Graphic card
- Mobile Intel 945GM
- Screen
- 12,1" SXGA+ (1400x1050)

Downloaded last night the newly released build (5342) ultimate edition. Today I installed it on my (new!) tablet pc, a Toshiba Protege M400, without any real problems. Although I don't have my native resolution (1400x1050), I can max it to a (relatively) small 1280x1024.
Here are some screenshots I made after my first boot:

After installing the drivers that could be found in Windows update, most devices worked. But there were some exceptions, for example I got an error of a slow driver (audio). So no idea how to fix that. Because of the drivers I had my native resolution again :) So that problem was fixed...

Build 5365 - Ultimate Edition

Back for an update on the new vista build. It took me some time to post the update, having a lot of work for school (see: Editor and Travel Content Management System).
This build uses the newly staged install, although it still took a little less than 1 hour to install I believe that when the final release is here it will be a lot faster (and easier). However I believe that there should be a sort of administrator install, so that you can chose what will be installed (like automaticly install IIS).
I heard a lot of complaining about the UAP, so I figured to install something (Windows Live Messenger), I got one screen that asked whether I knew what it was or where it was from. So apparently it ain't a big deal to install something. Later on while I was trying some new settings, I noticed the "constant" nagging of UAP, is that what people call the problem?
By the way, installing the drivers was no problem at all this time (or maybe because I immediately check Windows Update)
I was planning on posting some screens but due to to much work, it slipped and than we got beta 2. So I figured it wasn't worth it anymore!
Build 5384 (beta 2) - Ultimate Edition
I've spent a lot of time inside Beta 2. I've been using Office 2007 Beta 2 and Visual Studio 2005 (with QT and OpenGL). I also did 2 (crucial) presentation in it. And luckily I didn't run in any (point killing) trouble.
Although I did run in quite a few problems while trying to listen to some music. Media Center managed to index all my songs (about 6000), I was not really able to browse them in a fast way (usually I know what artist/album I want, so I start to type that name but nope it wouldn't find it).
Because of these projects and my finals, I didn't have time to write a decend piece about it.

On our way to RC1
This is the first refresh we received after beta2 and man it is one huge leap forward!
For starters it installed in a little over 30 minutes (that's almost the promissed 20 minutes!). Further more it feels snappier and just "better". Although lots of BTs won't completely agree (many have problems).
We'll see how it grows on me ;) I'll try to update it within the next days.

Fun facts:
- This time I tried to install it while preparing the food in Salford (while on a summerschool there) -> it worked. However I had some troubles installing the rest of the hardware.
- I tried a double screen setup, without any problems :)
- I managed to use Glass (Aero - WPF), it was just "forcing" the lakeport driver. However this means I can no longer rotate my screen.
- I started with a Windows Experience score of 1.0. But when I re-ran the test a couple of days later I had a score of 3.0 (I believe it had something to do with the graphics).
